When to Visit a Dentist for Fixing Chipped Teeth?

A smile is an important feature of a person’s feature. So it is very important for everyone to have a good and confident smile. Unfortunately few people are not able to smile properly because of a cracked or chipped tooth.

Chipping or cracking of teeth can be caused due to many reasons. The most common reason can be accredited to dental accidents. In most cases a chipped tooth does not cause any pain and does not require a visit to dentist in Frankston north.

A slight pain can be experienced if the chip is large enough to expose inner layer of tooth. A chip generally starts on the end or outside of tooth and works its way in. Fixing chipped teeth depends mainly on the size of the chip. If the chip is small, a dentist might smooth the edges and polish over the chip. If the chip is big, crowns, fillings or caps maybe used to restore the normal function and appearance of damaged tooth.

A cracked tooth or a chipped tooth can be caused due to untreated cavities and poor hygiene that weakens tooth, making them vulnerable to damage. The other common reason for this type of tooth damage is biting down on hard substance that puts lot of pressure on teeth and thus causing a chip or a crack. Dental accidents can happen if a person is hit by a substance while playing sports that involve lot of physical activities like boxing, rugby etc. Physical accidents can also cause tooth to be cracked or chipped.
